All About Us

Founded over 22 years ago, the Stamford Jr. Wrestling Club (“SJWC”) is a 501(c)(3) organization in Stamford, CT that is dedicated to providing high quality Folkstyle and Freestyle instruction to elementary (K-5th grade) and middle school youth (6th-8th grade) in lower Fairfield County.

It is one of the largest and most successful clubs in the State and has a dedicated and experienced coaching staff.  A coaching staff that loves the sport of Wrestling and all that it can do for young men and women.

Currently, the club has over 150 wrestlers between the ages 6 to 14 and has a rich winning history of developing Champions. Over the years, the club has produced multiple State Champions, New England Champions and several New England placers, as well as, a Freestyle All-American.

Our motto is “Champions are Formed, not Born” and this motto epitomizes the focus and mission of the Club. We help these young wrestlers develop into well rounded young people,  by focusing on pride, integrity, commitment, resiliency and instill a “Never, never, never give up!” mentality. Plus, we have fun, evident by the smiles, laughter and growing number of wrestlers joining our Team!

If you are interested in learning more about wrestling please contact us ( or join us on Monday nights at The Boys and Girls Club or Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Westhill High School Wrestling Room between 6:30-8:00 pm.

We rely on fund raising campaigns, tournaments, but mostly, the generosity of our Parents and Sponsors to help support the Club.  As the old adage goes…”A 100 years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the type of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove…But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a Child.”

Please come join the fun!
